Explore the Unique Mangrove Forest of Isla Damas
The Isla Damas Mangrove Experience is much more than a ride through the mangrove canals.
It is an intimate encounter with one of the most valuable and vibrant ecosystems of Costa Rica’s Central Pacific.
Just a few minutes from Manuel Antonio and Quepos, we enter the Isla Damas mangrove forest, a natural labyrinth of roots, water, and wildlife.
Guided by a local host, we navigate by kayak or paddleboard while learning about the six species of mangrove and their essential role in maintaining the balance of the coastal ecosystem.
During the tour, it is common to see white-faced monkeys, herons, kingfishers, iguanas, and crabs, and if we’re lucky, the elusive silky anteater.
We will take a break to enjoy a snack with fresh tropical fruits, before continuing to explore the waterways surrounded by the tranquility of the forest.
The experience continues with a visit to a local family, where we share a homemade lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients, accompanied by natural juices.
It’s a genuine opportunity to experience the hospitality and stories of those who live every day in harmony with this environment.
The day ends with the return to Quepos, after an experience that unites nature, culture, and real connection.
